With the change of seasons, are your lips suffering? I don’t know about you, but here in Buffalo NY it’s hot then cold then hot again. Temperature changes along with blustery winds take a toll on my perfect pout. Endless chapstick applications do nothing to solve the dryness at times.
I have tried just about every lip smoothing treatment I could find in the past.
- A lip scuff/condition combo from The Body Shop
- Warm washcloth in the shower
- Gently scrubbing with a soft toothbrush
Yes, they worked, but they weren’t pleasant. Sure, sure, no one wants to have to get rid of chapped lips. Ideally we should attempt to prevent them. I think I found the answer PLUS it’s delicious!
This past summer I discovered LUSH, a beauty company that uses natural and minimal safe synthetics in their products. A couple of trips to the store and a pile of loot later, I found the answer to my chapped lips. LUSH Lip Scrub!
At the end of my last LUSH visit, I perused the impulse buys at the register while the sales reps gathered some samples for me and came across the lip scrubs. They had a few flavors.
- Bubble Gum. Meh, I’m in my 30’s and over bubble gum flavored stuff.
- Mint Julips. Might as well be rubbing toothpaste on my lips.
- Popcorn. Popcorn?! Ok, I’ll give it a go.
I opened the container and it smelled heavenly! Salty. Sweet. Truth be told, my mouth watered. What a perfect flavor! I had to have it.
Now Sarah, you keep saying flavor… Don’t you mean scent?
Nope! This lip scrub is completely edible. Check out the directions and ingredients:
How To Use: Scrub your lips with our sugary Lip Scrubs to make them smooth and tempting. Take a pea-sized amount and scrub your lips soft, then lick off the excess!
What It’s Made Of: Castor Sugar , Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis) , Fine Sea Salt (Sodium Chloride) , Corn Meal (Zea Mays) , Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera) , Fizzy Candy (Isomalt, Lycasin, Carbon Dioxide) , Flavor
I can pronounce ALL of those ingredients. Aside from the flavoring, I could MAKE this lip scrub! Heck, I could create my own flavors! Hmm… I see a DIY Lip Scrub post coming on…
I regularly use this product and couldn’t be happier! I think the Organic Jojoba Oil and Extra Virgin Coconut Oil not only moisturize but also seal it in after the salt and sugar rough off the dead skin.
I can’t wait to see what other flavors come out. Our neighbors across the pond in the UK have access the Christmas line already. I’m dying to check out Santa Baby, a mix of cherries and dates.
