To simplify is to cut the strings that hold you back.
Simplifying and decluttering is all the rage right now. There are all sorts of blog posts on these topics: Simplify your life in 5 easy steps or 30 Days to a decluttered home. I’m not knocking it; heck, I choose simplify as my 2016 word of the year…
Simplifying is so much more than getting rid of physical things. You need to look at everything, reduce excess and make it a way of life.
Limitations complicate life; they are the strings holding you back. Some hold more tension than others: money, time, education. Some are excess baggage that you need to let go: doubt, toxic relationships, telling yourself “it’s not a good time”.
While you may not be able to cut some strings in life, look for ways to ease the tension they put on you.
- Find expenses you can cut.
- Delegate household tasks to give you more time.
- Take some night classes to further your education.
Giving yourself some slack is a great place to start.
Find those looser strings your your life, the ones that are not pulling you back but they’re not letting you move forward either. Cut them, free yourself from those limitations. It may not be easy, I know. A good friend, tribe or support system can help you. Call on those people. They may be itching to cut the strings for you.
