Be The Soul Of That Place

Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place. #MondayMotivation

Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place.

~Rumi

What does that even mean?  This story might help…

I know a woman named Nikki.  Her face dons an infectious smile.  Her life is an adventure waiting to be explored.  She will go out of her way to turn your frown upside down.   There is always a joke to be told and a hug to give.  You feel her positive presence when she’s in a room and your spirit can’t help but be uplifted.

Let’s be clear.  Nikki isn’t that annoyingly perky woman in the movie Office Space who accuses Peter of having a case of the Mondays.  But I’m not saying she never has a bad day or that life doesn’t get her down either. She’s a delightful balance of emotion.  She is capable of seeing the good, finding the good.  She chooses happy.

Wherever she stands, she is the soul of that place.

Does it make more sense now?

Being the soul of a place doesn’t mean you have to be extroverted and the center of attention.  I believe it means your essence is felt by all.  You can have an impact on a crowd of people and never speak to a single one.  Your actions and reactions to situations project onto others.

Keep them positive.

Who in your life fills the room with positivity just by being there?  How can you be the soul of the place you stand?

  1. beautiful post. I have a friend whose presence is never missed, her smile lights up my life and many others, she is just a beautiful soul, so I know exactly what yo mean here. I hope I am that for many people too. So well written and thank you for linking up xx #mg

  2. That is an interesting quote and it makes a lot of sense! I am told that I possess that with my friends and family, especially with my kids. I once had a person in my life who made me smile every time we talked or every time I even saw his name come across my news feed or instant messenger but we had a falling out so I had to find that within myself and since then, things have changed dramatically for the better in my life. I finally became my own hero! Popping over from #mg

    1. You are your circle’s Nikki! Yay! Every group needs a Nikki. Glad you could become the strength and soul that you and your surroundings need. You truly are a blessing.

  3. My default is the opposite but when I’m interested my enthusiasm inspires people. It’s one of my development needs to work on being more positive to keep from being a gloomy emotional contagion!

    1. I used to be very vibrant. Adult life and drama has made me fade… I need to find a less toxic environment to shine again.
